The Worthersee Tour is an oasis of good vibes, awesome folks and customized wagons. Every year in May, Volkswagen aficionados gather in the little Austrian village of Reifnitz to have a good time and find out who brought the coolest car to the party.

Of course, image is everything and that’s why, at Worthersee, seeing cars fitted with unique and rare rims is the ultimate head turner. Scraping the asphalt is the next big thing. In fact, as the saying goes – the lower, the better. It doesn’t matter if the car can’t ride or turn properly as long as its looks are killing it.

Although you can find every type of tuning style imaginable, there’s not much reading through the lines at events like this one. Cars are what they are and always follow the latest trend when it comes to styling. In 2013, the E series BBS wheels were in the spotlight, and the year before was all about concave rims.

But sometimes, you can find some order in all the mayhem. Sometimes there’s that one car that carries a wheel-style combo that’s just perfect and, best of all, honors its heritage.

Take a look at this MK6 R Golf, modified by TVW car design. From a Worthersee point of view, It’s not much, but the clean lines and sedated paint job it carries is like a breath of fresh air.

Judging by the BBS Super RS Forged 20 inch rims fitted to it, the car is a throwback to the old Golf MK2, which rolled off the production line sporting classic RZ’s, or the classic GTI G60 with original RS’s. Besides, we’re almost certain the style’s simplicity is a tribute to the more angular Mk2.

Because its fenders had to be widen in order to accommodate those humongous 20 inch rims, the car now has a broader stance. A subtle but effective tweak that only a few will notice. Nice job, TVW.

The car also rocks an Edel 01 exhaust system, which helps the 270 bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged engine sound more aggressive.

So, what do you think; does this Mk6 Golf honor its elders?
