This is just another day in the life of a rally driver, who, thankfully in this case walked away from this horrific crash, along with the co-driver. Their Citroen C2 lost its balance after a dipping right turn and was eventually stopped by its roof crumbling around a tree.
The accident was witnessed at the Rally Ronde de La Durance, in France, and it wasn’t the only mishap recorded that day. There is a second video posted below and that shows a wider range of crashes and near misses from the same event.
As for the second-most spectacular crash, that goes to another Citoren, this time a Saxo, which loses left suspension after an off-tarmac incursion, then veers of the road and onto its side.
Amateur rallying is definitely eventful and fun to watch all around the world, for the sheer diversity of cars, high likelihood of crashes due to frequent lack of experience (this is a beginner-oriented motorsport discipline) and often treacherous nature of the chosen courses.
