With the countdown clock now reading 26 days until Chevy reveals its sixth-gen Camaro on May 16, GM has released some fresh tidbits on their new muscle car.

Today’s release informs us about the introduction of a new Drive Mode Selector that allows the driver of the base V6 (and likely the rumored 4-cylinder turbo models) to choose from three different powertrain and chassis calibrations, including Snow/Ice, Tour and Sport, with the V8-powered SS adding a fourth Track option.

These modes change throttle progression, steering, stability control and other vehicle settings.

“We wanted to build on the flexibility of the current Camaro ZL1, which is great for grand touring, commuting, the drag strip and track days,” said Aaron Link, Camaro lead development engineer. “The new Camaro will be even more adaptable, with up to eight vehicle attributes adjusted to fit a driver’s preference.”

Chevy also revealed that for the first time, the Camaro SS will be offered with their Magnetic Ride Control system that was previously available only on the Camaro ZL1. The active damping system offers three preset programs named Tour, Sport and Track.

The final bit of information provided is that there will be a new dual-mode exhaust system with electronically controlled valves that offers “personalization options, from a ‘stealth’ mode to a more aggressive ‘track’ mode”.
