Ukraine received the first transport of Humvees from the United States, with 10 armored off-roaders being delivered to Kiev’s Borispol airport by a US Air Force military freighter.

Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko personally attended the delivery ceremony and even got behind the wheel of one of the vehicles, unloading it from the aircraft and driving it on the runway.

The 10 Humvees were delivered to Ukraine as part of non-lethal military aid promised by the United States. The only thing missing from the vehicles that would have made them lethal is the machine gun, as the Humvees have armored defenses, bulletproof glass and a pre-mounted machine gun turret on top.

In total, the Ukrainian army expects to get 230 armored Humvees from the United States, with the $75 million help also including reconnaissance drones, communication equipment, night vision goggles and artillery fire detection radars.

Unfortunately, this publicity stunt proves once again that the war in Ukraine is far from being over.
