McLaren’s highly anticipated debut at the New York Auto Show next month is the first model of the Sports Series, which will form the more affordable part of the automaker’s lineup.

The first model of the Sports Series will reportedly be called 570S and will sit at the bottom of McLaren’s lineup, below the 650S which is part of the Super Series alongside the 625C and the recently-unveiled 675LT. According to a report from De Telegraaf, the McLaren 570S will be powered by a turbocharged V8 producing 570hp, most likely a detuned version of the unit found in the 650S.

The 570S will first launch as a Coupe, with a Spider to follow shortly after. Later on, McLaren will launch a GT version with extra luggage space and a sportier top model with more power and lower weight.

Based on McLaren’s well-known carbon fiber monocoque, the 570S will be a rival for the Porsche 911, Aston Martin V8 Vantage and the Mercedes-AMG GT.

The McLaren 570S will debut in New York and will also be unveiled in Amsterdam at the AutoRAI 2015 show (April 17-26). Deliveries are expected to begin in the second half of this year, with McLaren expecting to sell about 2,000-2,500 units a year. That’s significantly more than the 650S series, of which 1,600 units were sold in 2014.
