After the facelifted Auris hatchback and Touring Sports models presented at the Geneva show this week, Toyota may be preparing an update for its other compact model, the Corolla sedan.
These screenshots were taken from a fresh set of animated videos from Toyota Europe showcasing the firm’s new range of advanced active-safety systems bundled under the ‘Toyota Safety Sense’ umbrella.
The animated car shown in all clips looks like a facelifted version of the European-spec Corolla sedan with a pointier new face and a bumper design modeled after the revised Auris. Some minor changes seem to have taken place at the back as well, including a slightly different chrome strip between the lights and a revised bumper.
More intriguingly, the instrument cluster shots clearly show a hybrid model gauge on the left hand side.
Toyota offers a number of market-specific Corollas with various styling and mechanical changes around the world, so if this isn’t the European model, the only other explanation we can think of is that it depicts the upcoming Corolla Hybrid with a 1.5-liter petrol engine assisted by an electric motor, reportedly designed for China and possibly, other Asian countries.
A big hat tip to Ayberk!
