In the past, BMW ‘M’ cars used to have subtle looks, but when challenged would tear you a new one by the time you reached the next red light. Nowadays, tuners such as AC Schnitzer have taken up that mantle.
The 2015 BMW X6 M is an amazing machine. But, like most current M cars, it will stand out in the crowd – which isn’t to everyones liking so it would seem.
Then of course there are tuners (such as Hamann, Lumma Design etc) that like to take things even further and turn a “simple” BMW X6 into a monster of sorts, something that makes you get back in the first lane and stay there until you’ve reached your destination. Or run out of gas.
AC Schnitzer’s approach is a bit different. The aero package applied to this X6 3.0d is rather minimalistic. It includes a modified front bumper, rear diffuser, bonnet vents and carbon mirror covers – and that’s pretty much it. Bottom line, it won’t blow your mind away.
As for performance upgrades, that’s a different story. The ACS6 3.0d that they brought to Geneva has 309 PS instead of the usual 258 you’d find in an xDrive30d model. Actually, this car is about as powerful as the xDrive40d version which has 313 HP – so we can expect similar performance.
The ACS6 3.0d also premiered the all-new AC1 Wheel Generation – which has an almost “factory M” type of design to it.
Of course, if your BMW X6 is packing more heat than an xDrive30d model, AC Schnitzer will hook you up regardless if you own the 40d, 35i or the 50i version – which takes the cake at 525 PS.
