Euro NCAP, the European authority for automobile safety, has just published its results for the all-new Audi TT. Surprisingly, it’s not an accolade-accompanied five-stars, but a more lowly four.
There’s nothing wrong with the car’s structure, and in fact it was rated as very good for both front and side impact tests. Dummies tested recorded moderate to light forces with the worst faring being the passenger dummy’s chest.
The reason why it wasn’t awarded the full five stars is due to the fact that it’s not available with any form of crash mitigation tech, at least for now – there’s no AEB, not even as an expensive optional extra.
Moreover, stuff like lane keep assist is also optional and the new TT can’t be equipped with a knee airbag either.
